Went to S.J.'s to help her build a raised bed. Splendidly bodgy. Remembered the drill, box of tomatoes, bag of bunting and gift of re-cycled brake cable brooch but forgot my camera. Realised during tea that the light was fading fast.

I've never tried sticking a camera in anyone's face at the dinner table and just waiting to see what happens, least of all one of my own children, but it was surprisingly fruitful. I tried all the different pre-settings that I've never really bothered with before: Portrait, Soft Skin, Baby 1 and Baby 2, then Underwater, Pet and Food. Portrait came out best so that proves something.
