Hello birds!

21months 24days

Quite a mad day today! But a great one, none the less. Rather last minute, a day to Scarborough turned into a sleepover, and when we got there, it turned out it was best to be 2sleepovers! So we packed up in a fair old hurry this morning and headed off.

We popped to the Sunday market with friends - although all we came away with was some fruit. Of course when you're looking for particular items, you never find them. I then took her to Morrisons for a spot of brunch - she chose a cheesy breadroll. And more fruit.

We then headed into the forest to an incredibly beautiful farmhouse, where her little friend Lilly lives. Today is Lilly's 2nd birthday. It was a touch sad for me as Lilly is the first party from our post-natal group for a second birthday. Our little tinies are children, not babies, barely toddlers! It was a fabulously disorganised affair - a paddling pool, a wonderful big sandpit, a spaceship ride (like at the seaside/supermarkets, without putting a pound in!) Katie rejected the fishfingers and chips in favour of french bread and cucumber. It was so lovely to see her little friends that we dont get to see very often. They played pass the parcel and for the first time she really got the idea of "Take it, pass it on". And won!

After the party, we drove back into Scarborough. Understandably, she fell to sleep in the car. Not long after we got to Grandads, grandad got there too. Because of her late sleep, we decided to go out and do something energetic. I told her we were going to the ducks and she almost dragged my dad out "come on grandad". We went to the mere and fed the geese, ducks, moorhens, gulls. And then ran. Her and I ran the majority of the distance round the lake - the inner track is a good mile/mile and a half. She loved it. Not long and the two of us will be off doing training runs together at this rate! We then went for an ice cream, before heading home.

We'd not long sat down to tea, when to her utter delight, Uncle Simon arrived, joining the chaos for the next couple of days too. Come bedtime, she was happy but shattered!
