cuddles

You know those days when you have SO much to do and you just can't seem to wake up? Today was one of those days.

Ben got up first and pottered around in the living room before coming back to wake us up as he had decided it really really was time for breakfast and a nappy change. Gutted - he'd already done his poo so no chance of a toilet poo today from him!

We stumbled out of bed and sorted out bottoms and breakfasts; left Ben naked from the waist down again, and then Steve went back to sleep on the sofa! This was one of only two pictures I've taken today - Ben being so lovely and looking after his tired daddy, giving him lots of cuddles, trying to feed him with frosted wheats... I didn't get this loving treatment when I gave in and tried to sleep a little later on I must say. I got Ben drumming at volume (which was actually quite nice, it stopped all thought anyway) and alternating that with coming for snuggles which are great if you're not actually asleep or trying to be!!

Once we did manage to wake up we finished attacking the downstairs front room, clearing and tidying. Piles of post keep popping up from everywhere - I appear to have quite serious squirrel tendencies when it comes to post. Not the greatest habit to have really. We've finally got to the point where we can start clearing out the middle room. FAR easier than the front room, there's less actual junk accumulated in there, it's just a dumping ground for big toys and shopping trolleys and the buggy and coats and things like that. Only found three piles of post / filing so far in there. *sigh* We WILL be ready for the builders on Monday. We will. We will...

We've decided to try and stay in the house at least for the start of the building work. Obviously not during the day, I don't think my sanity would cope with that. But evenings and overnight we'll give it a go. The only thing we're both wondering how it's going to work is the getting to the kitchen through the building site - and just how dusty it's going to get in there. Going to have to be SUPER-tidy in there...

Ben has been marvellous today! He has taken himself off to use the potty, stopping whatever he's been doing and muttering that he needs a wee and running off down the hall to the bathroom. And weeing. I must remember to have the chat about making sure his willy is pointing down and inside the potty at the start of the day next time... he appeared to have forgotten that little part of things! But, that aside, we've had NO accidents at all today. Since Tuesday when I first risked leaving his nappy off we've only had 5 accidents total. I think that's incredible.

He's also decided that he prefers to wear a nappy to go to sleep! He tried having a nap without a nappy on, but halfway through he woke up and asked for a nappy and then went back to bed much happier. I'm sure he'd be fine: his nappies are usually dry when he wakes up but he wees fairly soon after waking. I guess he just decided he couldn't trust himself not to wee!

In other news, I've learnt a new thing today. I learnt how to put air in the tyres!! I know I know... :o) Steve normally does this so I've never had to learn how to do it. But, given that I'm planning a road-trip north next week, without Steve, it's something that I need to know how to do. The alloy wheels are pretty corroded and need reconditioning, and so at least one of the tyres doesn't seal properly to the wheel and loses pressure quite quickly. So, I am growing up as quickly as Ben at the moment it seems!
