my place in the sun
well, this is it really.
the world is every bit of the mess it was last year/month/week, just some of that mess chose to show itself closer to home. I'm, as ever, concentrating on tidying up the bit of the mess I have an influence on......whether that's politically or as a consumer or as a donator or in my work or leisure. Today, however, I tidied up a bit very close to home by sanding the stairs. Now that was a poopy kind of job. Ancient varnish turned into dust and stuck straight up my nose. Working in hot weather in an enclosed space with a face-mask and hat. Yuk. And yuk again. So, I earnt myself a place in the sun with the News Statesman (odd to read as it's last week's edition!), a cup of Fair Trade, Organic coffee, some hand-made to the traditional recipe ameretti (am I painting a picture for you here? I hope so). And I thought about things.
Mainly about carrots and eggs and how to store them. As cakes. In the freezer. But the freezer needs moving and before I move it it needs defrosting and the stuff in the cellar moved so there is a place for it and if I move the stuff I should check it through and see what needs throwing away and anyway, I should get the laundry off the line....and all that's left of my place in the sun is a photo....because now I need to follow up the thread laid by my thoughts and actually do all that stuff.
As the saying goes: there are no peas for the wicked.
