Day 4 Lyme Regis

21months 11 days

Well, quite a journey, but totally worth it!! I drove through the night, stopping for coffee at 12.30. Katie woke up and ran round in her jammies, charming everyone in Costa. We had a snooze for an hour, snuggled together. She had a midnight feast of chocolate and raisins before we carried on. We made another stop later on, when she stayed asleep and I snoozed another hour. One more brief stop, and at 5am we landed in Lyme Regis. Up Katie woke.

Wow did we enjoy having the house to explore, a bath to soak in and lots of space for Mummy and Katie fun. Katie played as Mummy had a bit of a snooze, before we unpacked the delivery of groceries (hooray for internet food shops!)

After the chores were done, we had our first meeting up with the fabulous livingbythesea clan. Jayne and the twins invited us to join their friend Jayne and little Millie, who lived just up the street from our holiday home. We had a really great time. The children were just gorgeous. Erin such a happy, confident cheeky lassie, Jack an equally cheeky young sir with a very endearing shy streak. The children played for ages, Katie loved the toy food, posting the treasure in the treasure chest. All the children played giant twister and Katie taught them 3 little Monkeys, and showed off her rendition of Dingle Dangle Scarecrow.

After lunch I took her home for a nap before we met up again with Jayne, Jack and Erin for a walk through the town to show Katie and I what was what, before Katie and I finally hit the beach! Of course, Katie was determined immediately to strip off and head for the sea. She ran in the rock pool puddles, splashed,buried her feet in the sand, trickled it in her fingers.

After a great play together, Katie insisted it was ice cream time. We needed cash so ended up buying lollies from tescos and sitting on their stairs, watching everyone pass by. When we got home, she ate a big tea, sat like a big girl on a normal chair at the table, before flaking quickly in bed. Mummy followed only 2hours later and we both slept right through the night!
