Day 5 Blipmeet!
21months 12 days
We had been excited about this day for a very long time!! I was of course disappointed a couple of very dear friends couldnt join us, but thrilled to see those who could. We popped to the supermarket in the next town and got a sneak peak of fernie's daddy as we saw him on the bus bringing them to meet us!
We met up first with Fernie and her mum & dad, Katie and Fernie immediately were excited about playing together. Jayne arrived with her little pirate twins and there was a commotion in the streets of Lyme. The cameras were aclicking within seconds (didnt want to miss those gorgeous little pirate costumes!) before we headed off together.
By the time we reached the gardens to the beach, all four children were running off together like they'd known each other forever. They found two huge puddles and spent ages playing in them together, despite pretty dresses, pirate costumes and shoes. We finally got them to the beach and they all immediately got stuck in digging. We lined them up for a photo and not one of them either stopped digging or batted an eye lid at the repeated requests for photos!
We buried Erin, chased Katie, helped Jack build, tried to stop Fernie eating the whole beach, then all had a good old swim in the sea. They were splashing, floating, jumping. I was too, its true. They all sat wrapped up in their towels looking gorgeous, ready for a picnic lunch. Everyone played swapsies with their food and juice before lots more running on the prom.
My sleepy little lady crashed out in her pushchair during a brief walk around the harbour. Erin, Jack and I went for another dip in the sea and did lots of swimming before more chasing. When Katie woke up, she announced it was time for a lolly, and everyone else of course agreed.
My word did they have fun. And my word did I have fun. What a wonderful set of characters, the mums and dads, the children. Brilliant time!
Ferny and family and Katie and I headed up through the gardens, they were coming for a sleepover!! The girls ran some more before we got in and put them in the bath. Lots of splashing, lots of sand left in the bottom of the bath! We fed the girls before heading out for one last walk to wear them out. It worked. Katie walked the whole way down the town but got so tired her legs didnt work at all! She tried hard but they'd had enough. She snuggled in my arms and was nearly asleep before we got home.
After bedtime, we had a lovely grown up time with homecooked tea, a glass of wine and a beautiful sunset over the bay from the balcony. Bliss.
