pick your own

Visited a Pick Your Own farm this morning. I've never actually been to one of these before. We dug carrots, picked onions, hunted for french beans, really hunted for ripe strawberries (turns out we were looking in the late strawbs patch rather than the earlies - we'll know for next time!), checked on the plums, picked some raspberries and then waited for the tractor ride back to the carpark as we were collapsing from the oppressive heat by then. It wasn't especially sunny this morning until about midday but yesterday evening when the clouds came in (rainless) they trapped all the heat so it has been very warm and muggy.

I spent a grand total of £1.38 on my (admittedly small) haul but I'd love to go there more often to forage regularly for fruit and veg with Ben. We've got enough veg for tea tonight and tomorrow night though, and some berries to have with my porridge for the next few days! It was lovely to see some of the tots mums although not very many made it along - it doesn't appear to be on a bus route so that's going to be tricky for many of them.

Glad to be home to cool off, and glad of an afternoon that I can sleep in! I had a snooze while Ben played on the bed, and now Ben's sleeping and I've woken up so I'm having a bit of a chill-out in peace. I may even make a cup of tea. Or a very large glass of juice - that might be a better option!
