Sharing tern couple

He flew in with the fish, and strutted around chest puffed out, making the guttural call they use to announce they have a fish.

The female tern watched and eventually moved close enough for him to offer her the fish.

She took the fish - not sure what she was supposed to do with it, but she tipped her head back and swallowed it immediately!

I thought he looked a bit put out, maybe it was all a bit quick for him. He took off again, but didn't come back - maybe he'd learned that he better eat the fish himself and not share!
