Black billed gull, Avon River

These gulls seem to only appear in town on the river during the winter, and in the spring head off inland to breed. They aren't as colourful as the redbilled gulls, with finer black beaks.

They are very agile flyers, and seem to be happy to roost with the red billed gulls.
