Passion Flower....
Passiflora caerulea
Oh Oh Oh how I covet this flower!!!
Over the years I have tried many, many times to take a cutting-Each an unmitigated disaster despite my best efforts... So! Imagine my joy at finding a vine growing in my garden last year!!wisely I decided it needed to be removed from that place in which it thrived-to a more accessible and pleasing area nearer to the house... So I proceeded with care gusto and dug it up, leaving most of the root system in its original spot!!! Do not fear,I cried! All will be well! I'll take a cutting in case it doesn't make it!!! And so a cutting I did make and instead of planting it in soil like my previous disastersattempts I put it in water.
The Rehoused Plant made a valiant effort and even sprouted a few leaves and tendrils before deciding it was all too much and giving up..:(
The cutting however sprouted roots.. Oh how I nurtured the plant- lovingly placing it in soil when it was big enough-Giving it bamboo supports, feeding, watering it all through the winter months.. I decided the time was right to begin hardening it off ready to plant in the summer- and promptly forgot to bring it in on the very first night!! All is not lost cried I! I will harden it off in the alleyway- tis sheltered enough for sure! it survived... I planted it out in the garden, in my ideal location for my beautiful flowers... and it died within a fortnight.
I do not know what happened or where I went wrong AGAIN...
All I know is this Gardeners specimen taunts me as I walk down the road to the shops and mocks me on my way back too....
