Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Bathing with Dinosaurs

This evening our daughter sent a text with this photo of Tristan in the bubble bath, and as she wrote, he was "counting dinosaurs." She continued by writing, "Good practice for kindergarten." This is not a quality photo, but that doesn't matter at this moment.

When I was a youngster, I thought little monsters like these plastic models marched out from under my bed at night as soon as my parents turned off the light. The thought of getting out of bed was horrifying. I have no idea where that thought came from but it must have kept me in bed. I'm sure I hollered to my mom from time to time that I was scared.

Tristan, our 4-year-old great-grandson, left our house this morning to rejoin Aunt Dede and Uncle John. We thought they were all going to the beach, but they skipped the beach and opted for an afternoon at the movie house to see Cars 2. I'm sure Tristan more than enjoyed that.

Without Tristan here, we've had a quiet, calm, and relaxed Friday while trying to gain some energy. As the evening arrived we headed for "date night" with a delicious dinner during the Happy Hour discount prices at the Yard House.

Now it is late with Mr. Fun nodding off in front of his laptop watching the evening news that we missed while out for the evening. And the three pooches, well, Chloe is on my lap as I sit here at the kitchen table--this is becoming her habit. Mitzi and Max are sound asleep on the cool kitchen tile floor.

So good night from Southern California.
