Today's the day ...................... to survive

Hasn't been the most interesting of days today.

It's raining for a start. The sort of misty, all clinging, Cumbrian rain that you think it's not worth putting your umbrella up for - and then you end up soaked to the skin.

I tried to do a bit of house-to-house collecting for Barnardos first thing (why do I always agree to do it when they phone in deepest January?). People are not so generous as they used to be, you know. They have no trouble in saying No thanks, you're alright - and sending you off empty handed these days.

This poppy is growing in the garage. Yes, actually IN the garage. Somehow it has managed to germinate in some little gap in the concrete floor. There it is trying to survive by making seed - that hopefully will find somewhere to grow in its turn. One of life's little lessons, I think ...........................
