Les Spectres de la Reconnissance. A ballet in two parts while asleep - classically a pas de chats tout en dormant. The tradition allows that this dance only be done in the kitchen of the cats' slave. Mirl and Sidd have purfected the dance so it can be achieved in other parts of the residence as well. But the epic plot is well known. Two cats who have just eaten or are about to eat (the two states of feline existence which form the philosophical dichotomy portrayed in all art by or about cats) drift off to sleep. In their dreams they gracefully float about the kitchen in a trance able to pass through the closed cabinet and refrigerator doors to evaluate provisions for pussies. Then the full ensemble arrives on stage for a celebratory bacchanal as the protagonists acquire the gift of can openers and pull tabs from the mythical bringer of all feline knowledge, Pussmetheus. In the finale, the cats awake in horror to find it has all been a dream. There is no food that they can access. Poor, poor pussies - so misunderstood.
