Clerk(s) of Works

While we were away, we had this new part built from the house to the garage. Jess and Molly are seen inspecting it, to make sure that the job is up to Duncan's usual high standards.

They think, of course, that it has been built for them. Already this morning they have both been seen stretched out along the new paving-stones. While the sun is shining brightly, it must seem to them to be a very warm and inviting place to 'catch the rays'.

In fact, of course, the path has been built for us. During each of the last two hard winters, the route from the house to the garage has been highly dangerous. It is almost impossible to clear snow from on top of the 'chuckies' and each winter we have been faced with a sheet of ice. At least we should now be able to maintain this flat surface in a safe condition. (Is this a guarantee that we will not have any more hard winters?)
