must try harder

Be careful out there.

B picked Gus and I up after the football yesterday and we made our way to Tesco to pick up a few things for today.

As the lights changed on the roundabout, the two lanes merged into one as we entered the road leading to the supermarket. The cars ahead of us and to the left filtered in turn in an orderly fashion, only a matter of a few miles an hour. As the lanes merged, I could suddenly see on my left, a small red Yaris coming up on the inside at speed and warned B that the car from behind appears to be wanting to undertake. B took at much evasive action as was possible including tooting her horn to let the driver know we were there. There was nowhere for us to go and we just watched her come closer and closer until we collided, front wing onto our back wing.

The poor young girl was very upset. We're not sure what caused her to continue. Maybe a daydream, maybe texting, maybe just somehow not really aware that cars were filtering in turn, but she was very young, clearly inexperienced and was extremely lucky she got B to deal with, the local community nurse whose life is spent consoling people and looking after them. On exchanging details, the young lass called her father to pick her up. she was shaking too much to drive any further. Lucky it was minor. she will doubtless concentrate more carefully in the future.

So why is this relevant to today's blip? Well today I needed to take a shot of our Joe...for his driving license. This was one of the shots which I liked in Black & White. I always feel people should be holding up a board in front of themselves with a prisoner number, date and case number when they pose for such shots.

On this occasion, I confess to some anxiety that I was taking a shot of our baby that would enable him to go out into the big wide world, sitting in control of one of the most lethal weapons man has made. Do be careful Joe Smoe.
