Wasted day with all my friends!
Don't you just love BT. You do realise that we are all (allegedly) making our way back to them. (I think it's their statistics that are used for analysis and conclusion!). I was one of that number. - eejit!
You'll have guessed...a complete no show from the BT engineer yesterday and straight on the phone this morning...fired up...ready to devour. Nice lady I spoke to. I could imagine she was well loved, hubby, kids, family and friends. Very soothing voice actually. Slight Asian accent but I could tell UK based as it had a northern lilt, as opposed to a mid-Atlantic drool.
She was disgusted. How can BT treat customers this way! Her words not mine. She 'escalated' the issue 'up the ladder'. It was a long ladder for it took 55 minutes on hold before she got back to me, which she eventually did by 11pm. Dreadful music on hold! She guaranteed me a call back by 2pm.
5pm, I called again. This time, an Irish lady called Sharon, equally nice, said there was an appointment in the diary for the 6th June. "made by whom?..." I asked, "...no good for me..." I continued. She put me on hold to travel up that same escalator which had obviously shortened, as I only had to suffer the music for 15 mins this time. She promised me a call before her shift ends at 8pm hoping to get me fitted in tomorrow or Friday latest. Hmmm....it's 8pm!?
Whilst all this was going on, my twin alter egos turned up for those wasted hours in the garden contemplating how to follow the agents up the escalator to a satisfactory conclusion. You can see them all here.
That's me on the left, ever the optimist, I'm pretty sure I just heard the phone, or the front door, or something. Maybe it was the sound of bullshit? Next to me on the arm of the bench is CJ, he's the unconventional one. Always approaches things in an alternative way, take his choice of seating arrangement!. Never focused, no mind on the job in hand and here was listening to CJ the Joker on the other end telling some story or other whilst hiding behind the umbrella. Never likes to confront anything....would rather tell a joke! Then there's CJ the pessimist in the middle, ignoring everything else going on around him, working out the trouble this delay is going to cause....how it's going to mess up his month end internet commitments that start tomorrow! Then there's CJ sitting on the right. He's Mr Angry from Hampton, compiling his thoughts ready for the fight. He'll give them a piece of his mind! Then on the far right, CJ the peacemaker. He'll always put a comforting arm around anyone and assure them everything will be alright! It was good of them all to turn up...but then, they had nothing else to do!
Update: 8.01pm - Sharon called to let me know....that she had not heard back from the engineers. Surprise surprise.
