Trying Times
Today was a roller coaster ride. It started out with a trip with my sister out of town to be with my uncle in the hospital. This morning at 9:30am he was wheeled away to have brain surgery on a malignant tumor they found just a day ago. He told me I didn't need to pray for him, but rather for the surgeon who was working on him. Symptoms started a couple weeks before and was misdiagnosed as a sinus infection just last week. Yesterday we were told it was inoperable and just last night a surgeon said he could operate. It's amazing how quickly life can change in just two days. So many family members waited anxiously while the 4 hour surgery took place. It was nice to finally see family, but not on an occasion such as this. Once the surgeon came out and said he believed he had gotten most if not all of the tumor, the pressure on the brain was relieved AND that he was stable....it was a huge sigh of relief. Only time will tell the affects the tumor has had on his brain, and he still has a long road ahead of him with radiation, but hope is that all things will be bright in the end. They confirmed that this was an aggressive tumor that can likely make a reappearance, so he will be watched really closely.
When I got home from spending the day at the hospital, Loren proudly showed me his new soccer cleats. He, Gary and Landon went shopping at Soccer City while Liam was at ANOTHER laser tag party. Holy cow, the 12-year-old has graduated into a SIZE 10 IN MENS!!!! Gary is a size 10 1/2, so Loren's only trailing behind by half of a size. It is sooooo hard to believe. After Gary left for youth group, he immediately tried them out for me in the front yard and insists that he can kick much better with the new ones. :D Of course, they are as bright as possible too, as that seems to be the style right now.
