Pipes and Drums

C, M, and I went down to Fairhaven to join in the festivities at the finish line of the Ski to Sea race. It was very crowded, and we couldn't even see the kayaks approaching the beach -- just each paddler running across the finish line.

We enjoyed a Boundary Bay IPA in the "beer garden" -- a grassy area surrounded by a chain link fence -- accessible only to persons at least 21 years old. This is required by Washington's archaic laws regulating outdoor drinking. It doesn't improve the experience.

The Bellingham Firefighters Pipes and Drums put on a short performance before marching away. On the previous occasion when we saw them, they posed for a blip with C smiling happily in the middle of the group.
