Bow-Wow Beach
This morning we enjoyed breakfast at "The Boathouse" restaurant at a place that should have been named "Bow-Wow Beach," but the actual name is Hendry's and it must be Santa Barbara's most dog friendly stretch of coastline. Go ahead count the number of pooches on that beach.
We aren't going to tell Chloe, Mitzi, and Max, since the three of them are not with us this weekend, but instead they are "vacationing" at Kenner's Kennel. Honest, it is a terrific place.
We've had a fun day. Found a surprise when we drove to the Santa Barbara Mission mid-day just to see the place and discovered a huge festival happening which is all in support of a local Children's Creative Fund. The main event was "Italian Street Painting Festival" (chalk drawing). Dozens and dozens of huge chalk murals were being created on the asphalt parking lot that had been roped off for the event. Live music, lots of food booths, and the ocean breeze combined to cause a very enjoyable afternoon.
This evening we had a delicious mexican dinner here in Ventura and then walked onto the sand to watch the last of the sunlight before walking back to our rented room.
Tomorrow is the big day! May 29th -- the day that changed our lives!
Good night from Southern California.
