Trees - Dr Octagon

Another relatively quiet day. I finished work at 1pm and dozed off on the bus into town and ended up on South Bridge. Decided to stop in at Underground Solution to further fuel my vinyl habit. For those who are interested I ended up buying the sessions triple LP by Carl Craig and 45:33 by LCD Soundsystem.

While I was in there I bumped into a guy called Andy who was my old next door neighbour from when I was about 13. He's a well known Edinburgh Hip Hop DJ (he DJs under the name A1). HE works a couple of shifts a week in the record shop on top of his other job. It was good to see him as the last time was back when I was opening my record shop 14 years ago and one of his mates was painting the shop for us.

Quite apt after all that when today's track turned out to be a hip hop tune. Dr Octagon is one of teh monikers used by Kool Keith from the Ultramagnetic MCs. He released a brilliant album under that name in 1995 or 1996 then didn't follow it up until last year. He released a couple of albums under other names during that time. This track is off last years album which is good but not as stand-out as the first one was when it came out.
