My commute to work is nothing ever than truly delightful and I always arrive completely happy that I have the opportunity to live and work in such an amazing place. From the moment I leave the house on my bike I am greeted with smiles, waves and lots of hellos. I often don't see where the hellos come from but if I do and answer back, especially if I attempt to do this in Khmer, there are lots of giggles.I meet this family every day and am greeted with huge smiles and waves from them all.The place where they live is tiny. I am hopeless at guessing size but I would say 6 or 7 metres square. It's just 1 room with a bed(no mattress) in it. There's some kind of cooking space out the back with a water tub and a toilet. Most of the time the family sit out on this day bed watching the world go by.This particular day I saw the girl and the grandmother absolutely engrossed in a game of cards.I wanted to capture the concentration but as soon as I asked if I could photograph them the cards were covered up,the old man came along and a formal group was formed. iIt's a shame really because these people look so serious in this picture yet whenever I see them they are grinning from ear to ear. The old man looks frail in this picture but in fact even though he's so thin he's actually strong .I often see him walking around some distance from his home.I can't imagine what events they have witnessed in their lives and would love to talk with them but I don't suppose this will ever happen or even if it should
