A life that never was #6

An abandoned development in Dromod, Co Leitrim.

It is now realised (too late) that these developments were totally unsustainable, destroying the fabric of some very pretty little villages. City suburbs in a rural setting just do not work, the council planners got caught up in the gold rush. there are twenty two(app) ghost estates in Co Leitrim, a county with possibly the lowest population in the country.

Due to tax incentives (known as Section 23) for the Upper shannon region of Longford,Leitrim,Roscommon, estates, apartments and commerical properties sprung up all over rural little villages.
