A bit of a lift....
At long last, the lifts in our building at work are being replaced, one shiny new lift is now operational, this is the 2nd one in progress.
The new lift is a bit shiny, very futuristic compared to the existing ancient lifts - much quicker too. This one which has just been taken out of service was making the most horrendous creaking and scraping noises so it's probably being replaced just in the nick of time.
I'm not a big fan of lifts, too much imagination for my own good and a fear of heights! But the thought of walking up to the 9th floor doesn't appeal much and when I'm in our offices in London, I need to be on 25th or 34th floors so again, need to get the lift. Those ones are very speedy, they make your ears pop.
The worst lifts for me are glass ones - the London office has glass lifts going up to the 6th floor (thank goodness it's no higher!) which I have to close my eyes in as it makes me feel a bit sick. I used to work in another building in London which had glass lifts going up inside an atrium and they used to make me feel very ill too. Not helped by the fact that I once got stuck in one with some customers - we went from the ground to the 9th floor, but the doors wouldn't open. Back down, still wouldn't open, back up, back down when the doors did open - we all got out but still had to get in another lift to get back up to the 9th floor. I was hyperventilating but secretly so the customers didn't know!
Maybe I ought to try walking up the stairs....
