If you're looking for a way out
Adam followed the course of the electrical cable running up the wall.
"Pass that chair over, would you?" he said to Hewson.
The older man, slumped-shouldered and resigned, complied.
"Don't know what you think you'll find," he muttered.
Adam took the chair. "Thanks. I was just thinking, a place like this, the stone must be pretty thick and solid. So when they brought the electric in, they might have looked for an easier way than drilling through it, yeah?"
Adam climbed onto the chair, peering at the point where the electrical cable's pipe disappeared into the wall.
He laughed, and shook his head.
"See if this was some corny old action movie," said Adam, pushing against the wall, "I'd be tapping on the wall and conveniently find a spot that was hollow ... oh."
As he said the word, the wall under his hands gave way like wet cardboard.
