Locked up, teaming up
Adam took a breath, and let it out slowly. "Anyway," he said, more calmly. "This isn't getting us anywhere. The way I see it, we're both in the same boat now, and we need to get out of here. Agreed?"
Hewson nodded, held out his hand for Adam to shake. "Agreed."
"So," said Adam. "Are we going to let this posh twat do ... well, whatever it is he's got planned for us? One thing's for sure, we can't just do nothing."
"But what can we do?" whined Hewson. "I don't fancy my chances against the Major's thugs. And unless you're secretly a black belt in karate, I wouldn't be betting on you, either."
"Couldn't fight my way out of paper bag Mr Hewson. Actually, sod it. I'm going to call you Bob. You got a problem with that?"
Hewson shook his head.
"Good. If we have to fight, I will. But like you, I think we have to be realistic about what we could do, and I think our best plan would be not to be here when they get back. Now, how much do you know about this place?"
Hewson shrugged. "I don't think there's a way out, if that's what you mean."
"But you don't know for sure? In that case we need to have a proper look at every inch of this place. How about that electric cable, for a start? Where does that come from?"
