Milne's Court Steps
The North entrance to Milne's Court, which runs from the Lawnmarket to the Mound.
See Milne's Court or in summary:-
Robert Mylne was a developer who bought properties fronting the Lawnmarket, demolished the tenements and closes to the south and centre then rebuilt around a square, this 1690 development being the earliest survivor of the open court style: Milne's Square in the High Street was demolished in 1688 when the North Bridge was widened.
The West side of the square was demolished by the Free Church in 1883 to make room for the new Assembly Hall now part of New College
Apologies for the rather shoogly photo, taken from upstairs on the bus as it drove up the Mound.
