More cakes

I love baking.
Lemon butterfly cupcakes with lemon buttercream, or lemon cupcakes with lemon creme fraiche buttercream :) Mmmmmm. There are a few left for breakfast. Ben will be pleased about that!







Today was my weekend. I was up late last night hanging out laundry so Steve let me lie in this morning! Took Ben downstairs, gave him breakfast, changed a pooey nappy, said 'bye to him and went off to work. I dozed. Ben eventually clomped back upstairs with his builder's hat and climbed back into bed with me, and eventually gave in to my unwillingness to get out of bed fell asleep again. Yippee! So we didn't get up til 10am when we both woke up properly and started demanding "find it mummy, find it mummy find it, mummy find it" referring to his juice that had gone downstairs with him earlier.

Made icing, iced some cakes, spotted the parking warden looking at my car and writing something down, remembered I'd left the carpark ticket from yesterday covering up my residents' parking permit (oops) so ran out in dressing gown to remove said offending ticket and point out the permit... phew, that was a close call. Finally got dressed and headed out to the supermarket, came back to find a happy little moo package on the mat with my sparkly new business cards inside :) :) :) that made me rather happy. But also had 3 letters from HMRC (relating to the 3 ancient tax returns that I finally filed) saying that, between those 3 years, I've got over £900 tax to be returned that I overpaid!! Woooo!!!!! Now THAT made me happy.

And then I made lemon creme fraiche buttercream icing and that made me even happier. I am so shallow. It tasted divine though.

Ben has been hard work today, I suspect he wouldn't have been if I'd not had a headache all day (that'll teach me to sleep in won't it). I think, on balance, I prefer the days when we just roll with sleep times and if it ends up a late bedtime then so be it. Trying to keep him awake just so he'd go to sleep before the small group ladies arrived has been exhausting. I should be in bed... I'm looking forward to going to bed. I might just go to bed now. Bed. Bed bed bed bed bed.

The cakes were good.
