Tuk tuks
Well what can I say about tuk tuks! They're wonderful and they're everywhere. Well, almost everywhere. When we first arrived here 14 months ago there weren't even tuk tuks in the bigger town close to where we live. Now there are about 10 all hanging round the bus station ready to take you and any amount of your belongings to anywhere you want to go for a ridiculously low fare. There are now a few tuk tuks in the small town we live in but none (yet) in the tiny village I visit from time to time which is 30 miles away up a dirt road. The tuk tuks are all decorated differently and are all capable of carrying huge loads of anything you want Whole families travel in 1 tuk tuk with people hanging on the sides. I have managed to get my bike on a tuk tuk when I was lost Shop owners pile them high with merchandise to sell. This one above was photographed outside the hospital I am working in. You can see the hammock slung across the cab ready for the driver to have his lunch time snoozeI love travelling by tuk tuk as there is always a breeze and you can see and hear (and smell)all that is going on around you as well as being able to wave(rather regally I always feel) to the children who call out barang barang which means foreigner foreigner
