I was born in the Marlborough Sounds, and still live there. I spent over 20 years away from here, living in various parts of New Zealand & also Australia.
We have a water taxi & grow green lip mussels too. All of these give me a strong connection with the sea.
Since the age of 10 when I got my first camera, I have had a fascination for photography. As I wasn't any good at art, I could record what was around me, and capture those special things. Looking back through my albums & old photos, I can see the changes that have happened over my life time. So the camera & photography is a way of recording history too.
I have recently joined the local camera club (first time ever) and it is 2 1/2 hours driving each way for me to get there. But I have made a commitment to myself - that I am going to go each month. Well, except for when we take off for 2 months to go digging sapphires in Australia, during the winter.
