I’ve now enjoyed blipping for a year, so I feel it’s time to add a few words of explanation to my original profile entry.
Firstly, I have deliberately chosen to follow just a modest number of journals so that I don’t become overwhelmed with the requirement to comment on too many each day. (I want Blipfoto to remain a pleasure and not become a pressure.) When I first joined I used the map to find blippers in places I love – the Lake District, the Cotswolds, Winchester to name but three – and also used tags to find people who had similar interests to me – Christianity, crafts, flowers and birds. By that means I found some wonderful contacts and enjoy sharing in their daily journal entries.
My lovely husband developed a chronic anxiety condition a few years ago, so we are now mostly confined to home or to our immediate locality, thus my photographic repertoire is, of necessity, fairly limited. Nevertheless I really enjoy the challenge of finding something new and different to blip each day, even if I don’t always manage it.
Oh, and if you see occasional references to "Smithers", that’s my nickname for my husband, when he’s in his ‘butler’ mode, bringing me his special home-made scones with a cup of tea, for example. He’s extremely good at that, and we enjoy the joke together. He loves the fact that he’s becoming well-known as Smithers to my followers on Blip! https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3005523941293819487

My original description of myself – 5th January 2022
I bought my first camera as a teenager in the early 1960s – a Kodak Brownie 44A, which was followed some time after I was married by a Canon EOS 10. However, it wasn't until I moved to digital (and I had more time when my children were no longer small) that my passion for photography really began.
I now own a Canon 7D Mk II and 5D Mk IV and am aiming to stick with these DSLRs because I'm too old (and poor!) to start afresh with mirrorless. I also have an iPhone which is, of course, the camera that I always have with me.
I have been keeping a diary/journal for many years, and am now using Day One to record my personal memories. I have the advantage of being a fast touch typist, for which I will be forever grateful.
In the past I have belonged to Flickr, followed by a short time on ipernity. However, I felt a bit overwhelmed on these sites and eventually gave up because I couldn't keep up with all the commenting.
I've only just come across Blipfoto and the format really appealed to me. I hope to post regularly, but I don't imagine I'll do it daily, at least to begin with. I have lots of other hobbies in my retirement – family history, making greetings cards to sell in aid of charities supported by my church, dressmaking and knitting for my three granddaughters, watching the birds in my garden, reading (and writing) poetry ... I never want to stop learning and creating! Life is so interesting.
I look forward to browsing through the photos posted by the Blipfoto community and hopefully getting to know a bit about some of you too.
Chris
