My husband and I always wanted to live in Montana after we retired so we would take our vacations in different areas in the state. We lived in busy Southern California for 50 years and we were ready to leave the busy freeways. (Our traffic jams up here are about 6 cars.) We were checking out houses on the internet and saw a house on a lake in Troy. MT so we checked it out on our next vacation and fell in love with it and the area. The town only had 980 people but that was fine with us. During the winter, the lake will freeze and we will get the ice fishermen and ice skaters which we enjoy watching. When the weather warms up, the boaters and swimmers come and share the lake with our moose, otters, ducks and one lonely beaver.
We have lived here for 4 years and have had a bear in our fruit trees 3 of the 4 years. Always have deer in the yard and can see the moose eating the lily pads across the lake every year. This year, we have seen 4 big horn sheep on the hill side. This is like living in another world.
The picture of my husband and I was taken at the bottom of the falls that you can see from our home. I blipped it November 27, 2009. You can no longer drive up to it because someone bought the property below it. That was one of the places we would take our guests when they came to visit.
