I'm not a professional photographer, but I've had a passion ever since my first Kodak box. I remember really looking at the world trough the viewfinder when I got an Agfa Clack camera for my birthday when I was approx 8 years old. (see entry feb 17th, 2013)

Somewhere in 1990 I purchased a Russian Box type of camera called a Lomo. I soon discovered it was a lousy imperfect camera, but that was exactly the fun of it.
I soon heard there were more fans like me who loved the imperfect high chroma results. They called this photo style 'Lomography' and the people like me Lomographers. The rules were that there are no rules and you would get unexpected nice angles by forgetting about the view finder, but shoot everything freehanded. (more background on wikipedia or lomography.com)
Nowadays I own a Nikon D7000, but for my Blip journal I often only use my iPhone4 & 5 as - just like the Lomo - it doesn't have a very good lens either.
I make it a daily sport to pick a iPhone pic and enhance it in my Black, Blue & White layer style in combination with photoshop. Always seeking new things, never walking the main road, you could say 'I wasn't born to follow' ;-)
Hope you can appreciate it.

FAQ
Lots of people are asking me if I use a certain camera software program.
The answer is... No, it's a combination of mostly shooting with my iPhone4 or sometimes my Nikon D7000, bringing it to my iMac in iPhoto, do some minor photoshop corrections, import it back to iPhoto and back to iPhone.
Run it thru some apps (dramatic HD or noir) in different lightings depending on the result I want and exporting it back to iPhoto and photoshop again.
Thats it in short, but thrust me there's no app or software that will match this procedure for I combine 4 to 8 different layers to get exactly the desired end result.
A lot of trail & error experimenting different styles and suddenly you do something and you realize you've found a style of your own.
Thats about 90% of my procedure, but I'm still seeking better ways.
Update:
I refined the process over time, mainly using photoshop and some great filtering software like NIK, but there is still no app that could automate the process and there will probably never be one too
Consider it like the almost vanished art of working in an old school darkroom processing every little detail with care, giving every picture the attention it deserves.
So much to learn, so much fun trying! ;-)
