Carillon and Dominion Muesum - Wellington, NZ

The National War Memorial and Carillion is an art deco architecture constructed in 1932. It draws the visitor towards poignant memories of bravery and loss of life. The fifty-metre high memorial is home to the Hall of Memories, a Carillon (huge musical bell instrument) and the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.

The Carillon is the third largest by weight in the world and the only Carillon in New Zealand. It has 74 bells spanning six octaves and delights audiences with more than 200 hours of live concerts each year.

The New Zealand Dominion Museum building (right) was completed in 1936. The building originally housed the National Muesum, the National Art Gallery of New Zealand and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Today it currently houses some of Massey University which specializes in Design and Music.

An amazing view which Daughter A wakes up to each morning. The view of the Carillion is a side view and the view of the Dominion Museum is of the back but with the collage it is exactly as Daughter A sees it.

It was a hot exhausting day moving her belongings. The city was a buzz with excited students returning for their studies. At the end of the day we travelled by car over the Rimutaka Ranges to the Waiararapa region to the town of Masterton to stay with Hubby's parents.
