Madrid
Having travelled through San Sebastian and Pamplona we arrived in Madrid after what was one of the hottest bus rides in the history of man kind (call the hyperbole police, they'll agree). We met our friend Sarah who has kindly let us squat in her flat for the next few days here, we're trying to be as tidy as possible.
On our first full day, while Sarah was at work teaching, Fi and I set out to get the lay of land. We wandered around the centre and ate tapas (as you do). We also checked out Zara, seeing as Madrid holds its flagship store. I successfully bought a cool new pair of jeans, which then broke when I did my zipper. Sad times. And I don't think I can take them back as I have now stained them with some delicious tapas sauce. Double sad times.
It has been sunny in Madrid too, if a little windy. We walked down past the Prado gallery and into the botanic gardens. We're saving the Prado for later in the week.
At night we headed out for something more to eat and drink, a lot to drink actually. We were taken to a Galician bar where I ordered a whisky and coke. The barman took out a pint glass, filled it with ice then proceeded to half fill it with whisky, leaving just a little room for me to add a small bottle of coke to take the edge of the spirit. Deeeeeeeelish.
