Metro Sun and Shadows

An extended day of sun in Paris (first for us in quite a while).

This shot was taken leaving the Pont Marie Metro station (also seen here). We visited two excellent photography exhibitions in the Marais:

1) Three Mexican photographers, at the Institut de Mexico, including Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Agustín Jiménez and Luis Márquez, with strikingly similar modernistic styles. (I'd like to think they'd appreciate the lines and shadows in this blip.)

2) At the Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand, photos relating to feminism and prominent women in France, 1860-2010--fascinating. It included many images of feminism and feminism by noted women photographers--not all of them French (e.g. Berenice Abbott). (As I've noted before, Paris is a great place to see interesting photography.)

Late EDIT:: The light above the Metro letters (here unfortunately cut off), is a Candélabre Dervaux , named after its designer and first used in 1924 (and extensively thereafter).
