Common Interests

When allowing a cat to choose you, it is important to establish that both you, and the cat, have similar taste in things such as magazines, snacks and what to watch on TV. Of course you must agree on the coziest place to sit and make sure there is a comfortable perch for both you and your potential companion feline.

Here we have Joshua and our beloved Contraptioneer. You'll notice mutual, fixed attention on the Popular Mechanics Magazine. This is obviously a good choice of reading material for both this feline, and this human. Joshua has partaken in the popcorn and reports he has had enough and is content to sit and read with his human.

Eventually, Joshua planted himself on his companions chest, still leaving enough space for the popcorn bowl, and not interfering with the human's view. Courtesy, therefore, is also a trait to watch for when a feline is looking you over for suitable companionship. If he does not have this trait, it is advisable to disallow said cat access to your favorite chair, and possibly your home altogether, or you might as well give up the remote right now.
