Curious Curlicues

Walking along Leven Street today, I had the chance to photograph this attractive wrought iron work. I have long admired it but have no idea why it is there as it is rather elaborate and high up for a shop sign. I wondered whether it actually is a shop sign but for a blacksmith, now no longer there.
