Do Not Use This Rope

This rope was installed over 100 years ago as an added safety feature. We are fortunate enough that technology has advanced and this rope is no longer need as an escape tool. We are keeping it in place to maintain historic integrity.

So the Red Lion Inn, the place where i stayed in the Berkshires, was founded in 1773. It has obviously been around the block. It was home, even, to some American Revolutionaries who had this crazy idea about beating the British into giving the colonies independence. Despite it's age it certainly had very nice accomodations. Including this lovely rope which amuses me every time i have stayed there.
