Good Fortune
Off to see Neds after work. A fine film - or at least, a series of episodes, some of which worked very well indeed. The scene where our hero first sat with the local youths in the gang in the playground and listened to their pishy big talk, explained something without words, that a thousand documentaries couldn't.
Ultimately though it was a depressing film. Not the feel good movie of the year. An antidote to those loudmouths whose wealth and good station in life have become so ingrained that they somehow feel it is only natural, that it is their due. And they've worked for it of course.
It's not. It's just a big slice of good luck. Lucky you were born smart, lucky you were loved, lucky you had the chances.
Enough. There were some good things too - good food and company and a Scapa 16 year old. And later, up the rain washed streets, a Glenfarclas 15 year old. And home!
