Dan Holdsworth at the Baltic
This was a very small exhibition at the Baltic, the art gallery in Tyneside. I popped over there during my lunch break at work and had a little look.
Dan Holdsworth is a north-east based artist who uses large format photography and manipulates the results using mostly analogue methods. These are views of three of his 'Blackout' series of photos of a glacier in Iceland.
In person, the photos look amazing and have fantastic depth and detail. The gallery blurb says that the landscapes look lunar, which is about right, but doesn't describe how much emotional depth (I thought) they had.
