Toi Toi

There's nothing particularly remarkable about this image but the lesson I learned tonight was.

I shoot a Canon 20D in both RAW and Jpeg modes. Until recently I hadn't really played much with RAW and to be honest I wasn't really planning to tonight either.

A southerly storm is coming through tonight and there were some interesting grey and windy skies. I thought I shoot this toi toi against them. But, all were over exposed in the sun. So I opened up my backup image to post.

Then I opened one of the over exposed RAW files of the toi toi out of interest and simply applied the automatic settings. Amazingly the over exposure corrected. I knew this could happen of course, but I thought if the highlights were blown out that was it, maybe not so.

So I tinkered some more, saved as BW and uploaded. I might consider some of the free Adobe online seminars ...
