Beau's friend has chickens and ducks and he recently came home with this lovely egg, of the duck variety.

He was very proud to eat the egg of a duck he knows personally. It was his first ever duck egg.

My life with ducks started with the liberation of 'Milly' at a farmers market - when I was about 10. She was bought for an astounding sum of money (£3 or maybe £5), so as we could take her home to live in our garden.

This purchase was much to the horror of the proper duck buying folk. It was an outrage. They changed the duck buying rules after this.

She was the loveliest of ducks, she was white. She eventually married a very handsome drake and went to live with him in Devon, they lived happily ever after.
