Poachers Day Off

City were away at Hereford today so Poacher got a day off. He only goes to a handful of away games and didn't fancy a trip to a town that is arguably the most hostile in League Two.

So here he is chilling on the sofa listening to developments from Edgar Street on Radio Lincolnshire. He was over the moon as big Delroy Facey scored to give us a 1-0 win and a fifth win in five games to leave us fifteenth. We have three games in hand of Gillingham in the play offs and are eight points behind. For the ill educated that gives us a sniff of the Holy Grail.

As five is quite a theme this evening, The Imps made the play offs for an unprecedented five times in a roww between 2003 and 2007, failing to obtain promotion once. Prior to that we hadn't been near in 119 years. I'm know I'm being a bit too optimistic but getting there is a real possibility if we keep this extraordinary run going. If it happens I might smile.

Poacher wears yellow socks in tribute to Keith Alexander, the legendary ex manager who led us to four of those five play off appearances. Keith was famed for his bright yellow socks on the touchline.

Also on Radio Lincolnshire last night: Me. Fresh from ym in studio Siren FM interview on Thursday, last night I chatted to James Lobley on radio Lincolnshire, a widely listened to local station. It went fairly well, think I came across as eloquent and well spoken.

Not going out tonight now. The reasons are two fold. One is that the other people going are aged 17-19 and will be (their words) 'on the dancefloor all night tearing it up'. Sounds destructive. I tend to hover around the edge of a dancefloor with a drink in hand surveying the environment. Clubbing is a jungle so in reality watching people clubbing is like gong to the zoo, only with less actual monkeys and more drugs. Therefore I give it a miss unless I have similar aged company.

That leads me to reason two. I need to save money for next Friday when another cousin (Sarah) comes back to Lincoln with her fella Mariano. Sarah and I are similar age so we get on really well. She lives in London but has had time in Italy, Japan and America. I went to visit her and Mazza in italy and had a great time.

Mazza is different class. He is a passionate football fan and came to watch City a few times when they had an enforced stay in Lincoln. I introduced him to Englsih culture with fish and chip dinners followed by Xbox, and nights out ending in drunken rambling at 4am. In Italy he did the same for me with some exquisite meals in some beautiful towns. I've told Sarah if she doesn't marry Mazza I will divorce her as a cousin and move to Italy.
