"Go Dish"

This morning we played "Go Fish". And the image of our son playing this game.....with the help of his doggie.......was calling for a blip.

Our son was terrified of stuffed animals. Well maybe terrified is not the right word, anti. He was anti-stuffed animals for the first 4 3/4 years of his life. Longer than that even but fractions have never been my thing. One day when we were out running 'family day errands' he spotted this stuffed animal and it was love at first sight for him. Doggie or 'mystery' as he has named him goes everywhere with him. Rides in the car. Sleeps all cuddled up in his arms at night, drinks Orange juice with him and just yesterday I heard, "Mommy, I think that Mystery has an ear infection. We better give him some medicine". Everyone is shocked with his new fascination for this puppy dog. This new friendship has encouraged his imagination unlike anything else has up to this point. Now he tells his doggie stories. It is almost as if we have a pet. And it's precious.

Playing "Go Fish" was tricky for him today. Because he had to manage his cards, his blanket and 'Mystery'. Oh and he talks to 'Mystery' in a soft little baby voice. But he won. He always wins the card games. And then there is our daughter. She is pure comedy during card games. She takes our cards, rolls around on the floor messing up the matches and the best is when she puts her cards in the holder.....some face inward and most face out. It is hard not to ask for a card that we can very visibly see that she does indeed have. And today when I asked for a 'Mickey Mouse' card, she looked and realized that she didn't have it, and said, "I'm sorry Mommy". I said, "You don't need to say 'I'm sorry', just say 'Go Fish'". "Okay, Go Dish Mommy". It's funny every time.

And the best line of the day from her came at our friends house this afternoon.

"Dese are my doccer dooz and day dite dup"
(These are my soccer shoes and they light up)

She has a stuffed up nose so everything came out with the 'd' sound. Shortly after she developed a fever and I will tell you what is really helpful, is having one of your best friends employed at your doctor's office. She called the back line and had a plan in place within minutes. Now that is good stuff. Thanks to our friends for all of your help today! And to my baby girl, I loved my cuddles with you today and know that you will feel so much better in the morning.
