The Old School

Just as the kids in my generation were reaching school age, the county built this school just a few blocks from my home. I walked everyday the five or ten minuets it took to get there for the first six years of my school life, first with my older siblings and then with guys my own age.
Fast forward 20 years and my own three kids attended the same school till they were in the 7th grade. But even as they were moving on to junior high the population around here had fallen to the point that is was too expensive to keep the school open.
It is now a neighborhood community center. There are meetings, conferences, and craft classes held there.
