The Bowlo
Another rushed blip: this is a pub on the edge of the roughest estate in town. Has a bad rep and is now closed. It used to be called The Bowling Green, but changed it's name to appeal to people who struggle when stringing three words together. Evidently didn't help, only really sold any beer on giro day.
I have a guy staying with me at the minute. I don?t know him. Tara rang me from Austria and asked if I?d mind putting her brothers friend up for three nights while he is on a course in Horncastle. I?m an amiable type to I let him. So far we?ve chilled on Modern Warfare and I?ve talked at him about football. He?s a farmer and has never seen a game. Ironically he is from Bury St Edmunds which regular journal readers will know is a place I am familiar with.
City won 2-1 at Bradford last night making it four wins out of four. Hereford (for the fourth time in just over two months) on Saturday away, followed closely by Shrewsbury at home on Tuesday. Two more wins and we?d be looking at the play offs and relegation will be a distant fear. Optimism.
Been to Richard Butchers memorial service at Sincil Bank today. It effectively formed the main body of his funeral, with the family moving onto the crem after an hour for an intimate service. His casket sat at the front of the stand while 1500 freezing mourners paid their respects and listened to commentary of his best moments in a City shirt. Four ex players told stories of their times with him, and many tears were shed.
I don't really want to write anymore tonight. Sorry.
