Happy Chinese New Year of the Rabbit!

My best friend lives in Shanghai and yesterday, just in time for tonight, I received this lovely rabbit hanging from her in the post. She's from New Zealand originally, has been in Shanghai for 18 months and absolutely loves it there. My mobile was pinging like mad this morning with texts and pictures from her, keeping me up to date with all the goings on in her barrio: fireworks; everything and everyone being decorated in red; and people giving each other little gifts. She got us in the mood and Bb and I thought we'd try and find out if there was happening to celebrate it in Barcelona, but surprisingly couldn't find anything. This is despite the already big and growing Chinese community here (if our own barrio is anything to go by)! No doubt we'll read about it in tomorrow's papers! Anyway, we're celebrating in our own little way: we've got our red undies and socks on, which is meant to bring good luck; we've bought and decorated a bag of chocolate coins to hand in to the family at our local Chinese restaurant later on; and here's the bunny hanging with the backdrop pic of Yu Gardens, Shanghai, from today's La Vanguardia newspaper. Of course, the big temptation now is to go out for a Chinese dinner......but we're trying to eat in these days.....but I can already smell the Peking Duck!
