Lake

Jumped in the car for the short drive to Lake of Menteith. At that time it was a cold, sunny morning with the odd blustery shower. Now it is dull, windy and very wet.

A little boat leaves from here (April to October) and takes you over to the island and Inchmahome Priory. The 13th century Priory was visited a number of times by Robert the Bruce. Mary Queen of Scots stayed there for three weeks in 1547.

Although it looks a lovely day it was bitterly cold and you can see that the lake is still frozen. At this time last year the lake was frozen but the ice was thick enough to allow us to walk over to the island.
