It may be because I'm getting old or it may be because the world is changing. Whichever one it is I find that packaging is getting increasingly difficult to get into. I bought a flash card sometime last year and without any tools it took half an hour to get into the blister pack - eventually i had to resort to a lighter to burn the bugger off. God knows what it'll be like when I'm old and frail.
Anyway the tool in the picture was one of my Christmas presents and has proved to be a godsend. I've already opened scores of packages from boxes wreathed in duct tape to getting the sellophane off tea bags. I've opened bottles with caps to bottles with corks, removed at least one splinter with the handy tweezers and cut open countless sachets of tomato sauce, vinegar and mayonnaise with the scissors and stripped electrical wire prior to putting on a plug. The only tool I haven't used is the hoof pick, and in the absence of a constant supply of horses, I don't think I'll ever use it.

The thing is, this is so handy I take it around with me wherever I go. But this begs the question what would happen if I was searched by the police and they found this piece in my possession? Would I be summarily marched off to jail for carrying an offensive weapon?
At my age, I don't give a stuff any more if I want to carry a useful bit of kit that improves the quality of my life then I'm sodding well going to do it. I don't intend to let the actions of a bunch of ignorant knife-wielding yobbos affect what I do. They are the ones who have to take the consequences, not me.

So It will be with me wherever I go - especially since I might want to stab my boss with the hoof pick.
