the portrait

On a lovely walk this afternoon with the kids and Steve and my camera... I think, as I now look at a lot of life through a lens I have come to appreciate the colour that is there, winter or not. The browns and greys were illuminated with light and the subsequent photos I took awash with colour.

As usual though with all the natural beauty around me I am only drawn to the faces of my family...I am sure this will pass but at this moment in time it is a joy to capture them - although I am sure that it is not always appreciated by them!!!

This to me is like a 'formal' portrait in the outdoors - it might not be the usual style that graces a photographer's studio window (one that specialises in family portraits) but for me and how I see my family I guess it works!
